Holiday Notice

Date: Monday February 2, 2026

We would like to inform our valued customers that Kirksey Sanitation will be operating on a normal schedule during the week of February 3- 6, 2026 for the most part.

As we were riding to observe conditions on Sunday, February 1, and today, Monday, February 2. We found that while most roads are clear, several remain hazardous due to ice. The following roads may affect our service:

• Old Hunts Bridge Road
• Chinquapin Road
• Wild Flower Road
• Flat Woods Road
• Goodwin Road
• North Old Buncombe Road

Additionally, we were unable to access Goodwin Road from Goodwin Bridge Road and Highway 25 due to severe ice conditions.

Please know that if we can safely reach your area, we will provide service as scheduled. If your road or street is deemed unsafe for our drivers, your trash service will resume once conditions allow.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding during these weather-related challenges. Your safety and that of our drivers are our top priorities.

We want to inform you that our trucks are operational today, but are exercising heightened caution due to untreated roads that pose risks. As a result, we will not be collecting waste in areas deemed unsafe or icy. 

This approach will remain in effect for the remainder of the week. 

We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during this period. We anticipate returning to our regular schedule next week and will gladly accommodate any extra waste you may have at that time.

We are closely monitoring the current weather conditions of the roads and prioritizing the safety of our staff and community. While we will continue to stay open today, we are prepared to make decisions as necessary. Please stay tuned for updates, and thank you for your continued support and understanding.

As you all know, tomorrow starts the 1st day of our trash routes. With the recent snow storm it will definitely impact some of our pickups. This will include rural areas and some of the secondary roads.

Tomorrow we will be on a 2 hour delay, and each day after that we will play by ear. If the roads permits us to get your trash, we will do so. If road conditions are still bad to us, then your trash will be picked up next week as normally scheduled. We don’t want to put our drivers or trucks at risk for fatalities or injuries that are preventable. The Drivers will be using their better judgment of road conditions like black ice.

Please put your bins out the night before so that you don’t miss your trash day, as we will not be backtracking due to a tight schedule.
